Science tells us that babies develop best when they are spoken to, sung to, and read to. Introduce your baby to a world of words and pictures with these 30 classic nursery rhymes from the Mother Goose collection and beyond paired with images of Chloe Giordano’s delightful hand-embroidered illustrations on cloth.

Even when they’re tiny, the sound of their parents’ voices helps babies make sense of the world and feel comfortable with new people and places. This treasury gives you the opportunity to rediscover just how useful (and calming) these best-loved nursery rhymes are in one, handsome volume.

Bond with your baby and help them grow as you recite and sing these timeless rhymes:

Hey, Diddle Diddle; Baa, Baa, Black Sheep; This Little Piggy; Hush Little Baby; Hickory, Dickory, Dock; Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star; Little Bo-Peep; Pussy-cat, Pussy-cat; Row, Row, Row Your Boat; The Itsy Bitsy Spider; London Bridge; Mary Had a Little Lamb; One, Two, Buckle My Shoe; Humpty Dumpty; Rub-a-dub-dub; Pat-a-Cake; I Saw a Ship A-Sailing; Old MacDonald; Rock-a-Bye Baby; The Wheels on the Bus; I’m a Little Teapot; This Old Man; Jack and Jill; The Muffin Man; Little Miss Muffet; The Owl and the Pussy-cat; Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush; Old Mother Hubbard; Pop! Goes the Weasel; Are you Sleeping?

My baby is used to watch most of rhymes in YouTube. She loves colors and music. I admit, I’m terrible singer. I’m used to reading to her random things, sometimes, novels too but this was first time I sang her rhymes and I must say it was fun reading to her.

She loved Twinkle Twinkle, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Humpty Dumpty, Old MacDonald, Are You Sleeping, and The Wheels On The Bus.

All rhymes were cute and nice, some I knew and some were new to me. They were short, took little time for me to finish. I didn’t read her everyday, like title suggests, I read all of them in one day. 😜

If you don’t remember all rhymes from your childhood and you want to sing to your kid with a colorful book and cute illustrations, I recommend this book. It can be a nice gift for new mommies.

As I was playing some rhymes on YouTube before I read this book, I could see some rhymes in this had lesser verses, some had only 1 verse.

overall, it was good collection, with beautiful art and vibrant colors . It is best gift for new mommies.

reviews

This was an educational scientific picture book on entomology telling about the bugs and insects and different classes of insects, varieties, how bugs are different from insects, some fun facts and scientific findings.

Author has collected many info in just few pages of the book starting from what is entomology to classification, importance of scientific names, and so many unbelievable facts that I didn’t know before like- strongest, smallest, loudest bug, bug dance and poops and also if bugs can survive in space and Antarctica. It was amazing to read about such interesting things that teacher can teach kids in classroom. There were activity questions at end of some chapters that kids would enjoy finding answers to.

I loved all macro pictures of insects and bugs along with the illustrations in the book. There were links at the end of the book for additional information and videos on the publisher website that curious kids would love to explore. Most exciting thing is there is Bug book art pack available on publisher’s website as well that you can download for free ⇒ Here ⇐ (Don’t forget to check out the resource link available below to get Cool Halloween Art Pack.)

This was newer fun way for kids to learn and author made it enjoyable with colorful graphics and text with simple approach. It will definitely raise curiosity in kids and involve them in discussion, even those who are less interested in this subject.

Overall, this was colorful educational and a perfect classroom book I recommend to all teachers and kids.

First, I loved that cover, a baby picture of Maud for baby readers. Isn’t that cute?

Since I have read Anne of Green Gables, I have been fan of L.M. Montgomery. I read bio of the author on Goodreads and through many other medium so I knew little bit about this great author. But when I saw this title in my auto approval galleys it was hard to let it sit there unread. I wanted to see what author has included in this little picture book meant for children. And I must say I’m not disappointed at all.

The concept of the series was fascinating and that description above says a lot. There wasn’t any extended portion as mentioned in description for hardcover, so the format I read must be a board book as it was very short but definitely wonderful.

LMM 2It was colorful book telling the life story of Maud. Illustrations were beautiful. I liked that little picture of Maud illustrator created. I could see lot of similarities between Maud and her character Anne. Both fascinated by books, diving amusing names to everything in Prince Edward Island and became a teacher. It was great to read small facts and I admit few I didn’t even know until I read this.  How she got idea for her book ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and how she rewrote her childhood through Anne was great to know.

LMM 1In the end there is brief biography telling the whole story of Maud with her b/w pictures which were pretty. Did you know she liked to be called Maud even though it’s her surname? I didn’t! I wish there was more about the author but it was perfectly fine for children aged 4+ yrs.

It was a good impressive way to introduce kids to one the great historical woman and author of the time. I’m sure they would love the book that will inspire them to learn more about L.M. Montgomery and her books in future. There are other books of the series on Jane Austen and Agatha Christie that I would love to read and many famous women in history. It is truly empowering series that will fascinate young reader and teacher would love to teach in classroom.

Overall, it was quick, easy read. I definitely recommend this book to all kids and teachers.

A colorful scientific classroom book about the insect discovery on the beach by character of the book, Cora and many, who later research more about the insect and shares the information with their friends in school.

The opening of the book was great with two friends enjoying their day on beach in Portugal where an insect draw their attention and make them curious to know more about it. They didn’t know what it is called so gave it a funny name ’The Beedog’. I won’t tell you which insect it was you can take the hint from the cover.

Both kids did a good research and found out details themselves. I liked their observational and research skill. They used technology in smart way and prepared the series of question answers to share with friends. It gave a good bit of information to readers including the importance of scientific name and interesting facts on the insect and other rare types.

I liked the way author included travel, technology, beach, and learning info in fun way that attracts young readers and teachers to the book. What I loved most about the book was fun activity at the end of the book that will encourage kids to observe surrounding, research, Google things and make a notes on it just like characters in the book. There is also a game, a creativity page for kids who love to draw, questions that kids can answer from the picture book and creative writing prompts. Amazing, right?

abroussard-beedog-activities-thumb-01

It was a fun way to teach kids. Teachers can imitate fun activity from this book and can teach kids about other insects, plants, animals, birds and many more things.

Overall, it was colorful resourceful educational book with fun way of teaching that all kids would love to read and learn. It is best book teachers can have in their classroom.

Goodreads blurb_edited

This book is aimed at age 6+

Bertie the gardener is happy with his life, so is Oscar – his dog. However, this happiness turns to discontent when Bertie sees George looking ‘important’ in his new bowler hat. Bertie wants one just like it, so that he can look important too. Consequently, he hangs up his comfy old hat and that’s when his adventure begins.

There’s a fun activity page at the back of this book – children can learn more about different types of hats and their names.

Which hat would you wear?

review_edited

Hat was fun beautiful picture book about a gardener called Bertie who loved hats. He was happy with old tatty hat until he saw other people of different professions wearing different types of hats. This book gives very important message to kids. It tells about being yourself enjoying things you are comfortable with and being happy with it.

In today’s materialistic world people chase different things, fashions, professions, and many other worldly thing just by looking at different people but they forget that not everything works for everyone. Everyone has their own comfortability. Just so a piece of fashion suits one person it doesn’t mean it will suit everyone else. We blindly purchase things just by looking at our neighbors, colleague, friends or any random person without even thinking of is necessity and importance and later regret it. Something similar happened here with the main character of the book.

The dog in the book was amusing and I loved the way he was illustrated. Bertie was skilled gardener but in whim of being other than himself he became unhappy. I like the way he returned to his self and found his happiness again.

This book arises lot of question in readers of any age. It teaches to follow our heart and pursue things we are good at, be happy with what we are doing and not to be influenced by society and what people are doing in their life, to keep it in mind that everyone is following what they are good at and so should we.

Apart from this lifelong lessons kids will also enjoy knowing about different kinds of hat and who wears them. There is also fun activity about recognizing hats at the end of the book with picture of all kind of hats. It was fun to read this book. I’m sure kids and readers of all generations will love to read this book.

Overall, it was fun, beautiful book with wonderful lifelong lessons both for kids and parents.
